So as you can see yesterday was Bid Day! I spent the entire weekend visiting the different sororities on ULM's campus to find out which one was most suitable for me. I pretty much new exactly where I belonged after the first night and just had to wait it out and hope I would receive a bid from them. I was super anxious all weekend hoping I would then when it was finally time, I was last in line. After about another dreadful hour of waiting I was called back to see Keith the head of the greek department. He asked me if I would accept a bid from the Kappa Delta sorority, and I was overcome with joy! I screamed "yes!" and ran out to see all of my new sisters! Once everyone received their bids we were taken down two at a time for everyone to see which sorority we went with. Then, we had took pictures by the bayou and went to our Bid Day party at our chapter president Sophie's house. It was an absolutely wonderful day that I will never forget!

Rush, Rush, Rush..

Since this past Thursday, I have spent everyday with my mind solely filled with rush which is the recruitment process for sororities. ULM has three sororities on campus, Kappa Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Phi Mu. Everyday all the girls split up into groups and go visit each of the sororities of their choice to see where they best fit in and which they would like to join. I have had a lot of fun getting to know all the girls and all about their chapters, but it all comes down to tomorrow. Tomorrow is bid day when I find out which sorority has mutually chosen me to become a part of their sisterhood. I am SO excited and SO anxious! It feels like cheerleading tryouts all over again, and I know tomorrow is going to be excruciatingly long. I'm just counting down the hours until I find out who I got a bid from and praying it's the one I feel is meant for me!

Blahhhh...

My super sweet boyfriend making us a super sweet dessert!

Yes, that's right.. fried oreos :)

Then the next night we went to orange leaf for some fro-yo. I guess this is where my freshman fifteen will be coming from..

So I have one key that goes to my dorm and one that goes to my room, and they both look identical. Solution? Nail Polish! So far it is working perfectly..

Today we also had convocation which was basically like a big welcoming pep rally for all of the incoming freshman. I finally got to see my roomie Catherine dance for hawkline at it ( I tried to take a picture but obviously my iPhone 3G did not do her justice).

Problem: My boyfriend keeps putting all these sweets in front of my face bringing me closer to the dreaded freshman fifteen.
Solution: Group exercise classes at the activity center! I have only got to Butts and Guts and Zumba as of right now, but I thoroughly enjoyed them and intend to attend more.

First Day of College!

Okay so this part wasn't actually on my first day of college; it was the night before. John Mark and I went to one of his friends to play some poker. He hates me telling people this, but yes I did beat him twice and loan him money to buy back in. I think he has a problem.. Although I didn't win, I had a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again!

first day! whoop whoop(:

super cool bracelet provided by ULM College of Business..

and T-Shirt..

First day of college went pretty good I guess. It's way different from high school though! I'm so used to going to classes where I know everybody then today I didn't know anybody in any of my classes. Big change! My teachers seem pretty cool though, so I don't think class will be that bad. Public Speaking, my night class I was most worried about, will probably be one of my favorites this semester. I really enjoyed my class today! Tomorrow is a whole new schedule and my first shift for CAB.. ready to see how this goes!

Oh Just Modeling.. no biggie:)

Yesterday Annabelle and I had the opportunity to participate in the Stepping Out In Style fashion show for Herringstone's at the Hilton in West Monroe. At first we were very anxious and a little stressed because we didn't know exactly what we were supposed to be doing, but in the end everyone did an awesome job! It was a lot of fun, and I hope we will be able to be apart of more.

All the Herringstone's models..

Annabelle and I.. love this girl!

This morning Alexa and I attended North Monroe Baptist Church. We really enjoyed it especially because it reminded us a lot of our home church, so we will probably continue to go to it. Also today, John Mark's parents came to visit to check on how his arm is doing. Then, they took us out to eat at Applebees; I really enjoyed are visit with them!

Tomorrow is my first day of college.. Wish me luck!!

Just the Beginning..

Yesterday, Annabelle and I went to the Monroe Athletic Center (MAC) for a Zumba class after she got off work. The class is an hour long but since we were running late we were only there for 45 minutes. It was the most fun and most intense thing I've ever done! We both really enjoyed it, but we were also completely worn out afterwards. I can't wait to go to another!

Earlier that day, Annabelle called me to ask me to be in a style show this Saturday for Herringstone's, the amazing boutique she works at! Right before zumba class, I headed over there to try on the outfit I'll be wearing. Needless to say, I am beyond excited!

Yesterday I also had my very first Campus Activities Board (CAB) meeting. We ate Johnny's pizza (yum!) and signed up for our first shifts for Week Of Welcome. Then after a mingle game to break the ice, our president, Ben Young, went over all the duties and expectations of being a CAB member. We also got to meet with our groups. I am in Special Entertainment which gets to decide what contests and different things we will bring to campus this year.

Since I am living in a dorm and have no means of cooking other than a toaster and microwave, I have been cooking at my boyfriend, John Mark's, apartment every night. Tuesday I cooked hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. Wednesday was parmesan topped tilapia and stir-fry, and last night I made spaghetti and meatballs. The cooking has been going very well for the most part, and by that I mean Wednesday I sort of set the smoke detector off three times. The first time was in my dorm while I tried to make pop tarts. Then, I did it again at John Mark's not because I burned anything but just because the oven was turned up so high.

Today is Move In Mania, so now everybody else is moving in on campus. I can't wait to see all my friends that are coming today!

Move In Monday

Going to my new home..

our room

before moving my stuff in..

almost done..

and done!

Catherine's room

oh you know on my tippy toes so I don't look so short next to him..

Well after 18 years, it finally came. Move in day. Surprisingly it went very well in spite of mom's gas tank issue. After Dad and Jess helped move everything in we went to Johnny's for lunch and Walmart. Mom and I didn't want to make Dad stay while we organized and decorated, so he went on home. Around five we were done! I couldn't believe it didn't take a lot longer, but I was soo glad. Afterwards Mom, John Mark, and I enjoyed dinner at Red Lobster. It was delish. I thought maybe it would hit me when Mom went home and I didn't go with her. It didn't. I think right now I just feel too happy and too blessed to be upset about any of this! Of course I will miss my family but I am SO ready for this year!

Packed, Loaded, and READY!

Day before move in day we finally got everything packed, loaded in the vehicles and ready to go!

In spite of his devastating arm injury my boyfriend, John Mark, still managed to do what he could to help us load up.

My closet looks weird being so empty..

All the clothes from my closet in Mom's car..

Boxes of clothes and other dorm necessities in the back of my car..

and the front..

and even more in Dad's!

Did I over pack? Probably. But hey I'd rather be safe than sorry! I will for sure be the most prepared on campus this semester. It's still hard to believe that in just a few hours I will be moving my belongings into my new home in Monroe. This new adventure is sure to be VERY exciting and, I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me in these upcoming months!!

I'm-Moving-Out-&-Going-to-College Sale

This past Monday while I was packing up some of my clothes and deciding which ones I want to keep or get rid of, I told my mom I wanted to have yard sale. At first she didn't like the idea because she thought it was too last minute and too much trouble, but then she said we could do it as long as I worked on it all week. I would also be getting most of the money we made off of it; Mom only needed enough to buy some new lamps.

We were pleasantly surprised with how many people showed up since the only advertising we did was through facebook.

This is one of the TVs we had for sale today. It is my TV that I have had and used since I was six years old! I used to joke to everyone about the size because it is literally so small that when I watch it from my bed I would have to get up and walk to it see what the score of the game was or the name of the show I was watching! Nobody bought my TV today (shocker, I know!) I think everyone just sensed the sentimental value I held with it, so they respectably steered clear.

In spite of our last minute decision of putting this together, it was one of our most successful garage sells yet. I can proudly say I earned MORE than enough money to go on a back to school shopping trip and a little extra to save.
